This time last year I wrote a blog post that ruffled some feathers.
It was called A slight misnomer and I used it as a vehicle to propose the term “Learner Experience Designer” instead of “Learning Experience Designer” to better represent the nature of the role as I saw it.
While I received loads of support for my proposition, several LXD’s thought I was attacking their livelihood or underplaying the value they add. Of course neither was true. I was simply challenging the semantics of their job title.
In any case, I lost that battle. The tribe has spoken and I concede the design of learning experiences needn’t necessarily apply human-centered design methodology. So I’ve pivoted…
I now position LXD on a spectrum:
And I was delighted to explain the concept on Srividya Kumar’s podcast.
I invite you to share your views on it too – whether they be for or against, or somewhere in-between.
